# Sections

Sections run parallel to the minisymposias. They offer a forum for individual lectures on larger fields of research and are therefore more generic than minisymposia.

In sections, individual talks are summarized, which are not sorted in a minisymposium. Each section has a leadership that can consist of one or more people.

The scientific organizers of a section are free to decide on the talks and can choose their respective length from two different models.

In the **mathematics strand** the time windows are as a rule divided into units of 30 minutes, i.e. 30mins + 30mins + 30mins or 30mins + 60 mins. This allows four 20 minutes short talks plus 5 minutes discussion and 5 minutes break, or lectures of 50 minutes plus 5 minutes discussion and 5 minutes break.

In the **mathematics education strand** and in the **interface minisymposia**, the time windows are as a rule divided into units of 45 minutes, i.e. 45mins + 45mins or 90 mins. This allows 2 30 minutes talks plus 10 minutes discussion and 5 minutes break, or lectures of 60 minutes plus 25 minutes discussion and 5 minutes break.
